Working out in a group class can be anxiety producing to some of us. Some are new to the movements, others feel a bit rusty after some absence from the yoga practice, while still others have anxiety in general. This can make some students feel hesitation at the thought of showing up to an in-person group class. If you join our Live Zoom Studio, you can turn off your camera and no one will see you as make you way through the yoga poses, pilates exercises and/or stretches. Not even you! The Camera Off Anonymity of the Zoom Studio is major bonus for some. While some prefer to have their video on. It's totally up to you. It's all about your personal preference and comfort level. Whether you have your video on or off, Cheryl will be spotlighted for everyone. With everyone on speaker view, Cheryl will be full screen. Rebecca, our Zoom Studio Moderator opens each Zoom Studio Class fifteen minutes early in order to help you make sure you feel at ease with your Zoom settings and to welcome you to class.
Another reason to choose to Zoom is if you have certain modification needs and you have access to more of you mobility aids at home. (Although we have many accommodations in-studio, our studio is up a flight of stairs.) The main comment we have received from our yoga practitioners who have done both our In-Person Studio and Zoom Studio is that Cheryl and her classes are exactly the same however you take them! The Zoom Studio is equal to the In-Person Studio and you can expect the same great instructions, which always include modifications. If you are comfortable disclosing your modification needs, Cheryl will gladly keep those in consideration when crafting each unique class.
Other Chattanooga Yoga Studio attendees choose our Zoom Studio when they are traveling, when its raining, because it fits better into their schedule or because it's nice to be able to take classes from the comfort of your own home. These days you can even Zoom to save on some gas money. You don't even have to be in our town. Some of our Zoomies are in completely different states!! So the next time you don't feel like going to class text Rebecca (423-505-1397) for that days zoom link and yoga from home!

You may have heard of Goat Yoga, Cow Yoga, Bunny Yoga, Horse Yoga or Pig Yoga. Lots of people love doing yoga in the presence of animals. Adding the animals energy to their own as they practice yoga. While yoga with animals may not give you an intensely focused session, it delivers mental and emotional results in spades. Many leave the animal yoga classes feeling positive, perhaps silly, and with the satisfaction one feels after trying something new and enjoying it. You can replicate that feeling at home.
Let your pets into the room as you Zoom. You may find that your pets make good yoga companions. Some pets sit idly by and watch as you flow from posture to posture. Others get a little too excited and want to join in the fun! In that case, they can be equally adorable and in the way. You practice will a little or lot less focused but you definitely won't forget the experience. You never know until you try!!
Your home studio can be as elaborate or basic as you like. Many of our "Zoomies" log in live from their spare bedrooms, living rooms, basements and foyers. Where ever you have the space. Honestly you don't need much more room than a yoga mat and some room on the side for water and whatever yoga equipment you have. The most helpful basics to have are two yoga blocks, a yoga mat and a stretchy band. You can always add bolsters, non stretchy straps and whatever else you feel like. The sky's the limit!
As far as how you Zoom it, there are several different ways. Most Zoomies simply use their laptops, desktops, tablets and even phones. The bigger the device screen the easier to see Cheryl but you can simply follow along to her spoken instructions. In the picture above, the iPad is used as the main operating device. The TV in the picture is older and requires a cord but with one cord you can see you iPad image on any TV with an HDMI slot. If your TV is newer, you can use the cast function to broadcast the Zoom Room directly to your TV no cord. That way Cheryl can be almost life size!
