Reiki Healing Sessions are the perfect addition to your Wellness Journey
Most people have heard of Reiki but don’t quite know what it is. Maybe you’ve thought that Reiki, or energy healing could help you heal, your doctor or medical practitioner may have even suggested that you try it as a complementary therapy to your existing medical treatments. But you’re still not sure what Reiki is, let’s talk about that.
Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes a deeply relaxed state, by reducing stress and anxiety through a gentle or no-touch approach.
Mikao Usui developed reiki in the early 1900s, deriving the term from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things.
At the heart of Reiki, there is the principle of interconnectedness. This interconnectedness reminds us that we are not solitary entities, but we are all part of a rich tapestry, whose threads bind us together.

It is not exactly known how Reiki works. It is believed that when our life force energy becomes blocked or doesn’t freely flow, that is when we experience disease and discomfort.
And if our life force is low then we can experience being stressed, tired, and just overall feeling unwell. But when our life force energy is high, we are more energized, feel happier and we become more capable of self-healing.
Reiki helps promote relaxation, stress reduction, and symptom relief it can also:
Studies show that reiki treatment may create feelings of:
But Reiki does not replace modern/traditional medical treatments, instead Reiki complements other types of medical and therapeutic treatments, and it can increase the efficacy of other types of healing, and is now used all over the world, in hospitals and hospices, to complement other forms of health treatments.
If you’re already in good health, regular reiki treatments can enhance your ability to respond to stress and serve as a form of preventive medicine.
Ok so that’s Reiki but what does a Reiki session or treatment look like?
Reiki practitioners function as a conduit between you and the source of the universal life force energy. The energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to you.
Reiki treatments typically last about an hour. During a session, you’ll lie on a massage table fully clothed, as your reiki practitioner gently places their hands, palms down, just above your body in specific energy locations. you may occasionally feel a touch, but in general, the Reiki practitioner does not actually touch your body.
Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during reiki treatment, and many even fall asleep during the process.
So that’s it, the basics of Reiki healing. There is so much more we can talk about in energy healing, and I think I’ll cover more in upcoming blogs.
Reiki has a rich and complex history, too much to tackle in a single article, but if you have any questions please email them below and I’ll answer them in upcoming blogs.
